Jansons: “Can’t wait to share some new and exclusive tracks with you on Dobar House!”

Welcome to an exclusive encounter with Jansons, the maestro behind numerous impressive beats, and our highly anticipated headliner for Peti Kupe on February 3rd, marking the grand kickoff to our event calendar this year.

As passionate admirers and frequent players of his tracks, we're thrilled to have Jansons grace our stage. Discover what makes his creations the heartbeat of our playlists, uncover the artistry and passion that define Jansons' unique sound, and much more.

Hi Jansons, this will be your first time playing in Zagreb, have you been to Croatia yet?
Jansons: Yes, this will be my first time in Croatia, I’m really looking forward to it, I’ve heard great things!

What was the turning point in your career so far, one that made you a touring DJ?
Jansons: I think my record Switch with Dope Earth Alien was a turning point.

How do you make your music, what’s your creative process like in the studio?
Jansons: I like to listen to lots of styles of music and listen out for elements that resonate with me. Whether it be a wicked drum groove, a catchy bassline, or a cool vocal or synth hook. I find this gives me inspiration and helps with writing. I don’t follow a template in the studio – I may start with a drum machine/might mess around on a synth first or even start working off a sample. It’s just whatever mood I’m in.

How does jamming on machines contribute to your creative expression compared to traditional software programming?
Jansons: I find it gives me instant gratification and enjoyment – you can get a vibe going quicker, plus it’s great fun playing on the machines.

Your new live show involves reworking your productions with creative transitions. Can you share how this approach enhances the audience experience compared to a traditional DJ set?
Jansons: I think creating proper set lists with your own body of work is really special. It’s a bit unpredictable and you can really take control of your tracks and play them in a way people haven’t heard them before. You get really involved in the performance and really feed off the crowds energy.

We at Dobar House love your music, but our absolute favourite track is ‘Messan’. Do you have a favorite?
Jansons: A track I did on 8bit called Burnin’

On a personal note, what do you do when you are not touring or making music?
Jansons: Obviously, I love hanging with friends but also spending time with family. I’m also a huge fan of movies.

If you weren’t into music, what would be your other passion or profession?
Jansons: Film!

Can you share a fun story from your travels or some of your gigs?
Jansons: I was playing at Cova Santa in Ibiza this summer – the caves beneath the club are amazing and I was lucky enough to party with a few people there.

A message for your old and new fans coming to Dobar House 03.02.?
Jansons: Can’t wait to share some new and exclusive tracks with you on the 3rd!
